NDSS CGM Subsidy Initiative

The Australian Government provides access for eligible people to subsidised continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) products, including Guardian™ 4 Sensor through the NDSS (National Diabetes Services Scheme).

All people with type 1 diabetes are eligible to apply through the NDSS, as well as some people with other rare conditions that are similar to type 1 diabetes.

How to apply for subsidised Guardian^™ 4 Sensor

1. Check the eligibility here:

Children and young people aged under 21 years with type 1 diabetes People with type 1 diabetes aged 21 years or older Women with type 1 diabetes who are actively planning pregnancy, pregnant, or immediately post-pregnancy Children and young people under 21 years with conditions very similar to type 1 diabetes who require insulin

2. Ask your healthcare professional to complete and submit the necessary forms on your behalf. The forms can be found here

Note: If this is your first time applying for Guardian™ 4 Sensor, ensure your healthcare professional selects ‘Yes’ for the question ‘Is a starter kit required?’

Already using CGM but want to try Guardian™ 4 Sensor?

If you are already registered with NDSS and use CGM or Flash Monitoring, you can swap to Guardian™ 4 Sensor at any time. Simply complete the Update or Ceasing Form and contact your Healthcare Professional, who will submit it on your behalf.
