My Daughter, My Inspiration

Growing up with diabetes has certainly provided my daughter with lots of challenges that many girls of fourteen have never encountered. Anyone with diabetes in their life knows how exhausting the constant testing, set changes, swinging blood sugars and carb counting gets. There is little rest from it and even at night it doesn’t stop. Of course, Chloe dreams of a life without diabetes but never does she let herself settle into a pattern of self-pity.
What inspires me about Chloe is that she takes all these challenges in her stride and is living life large! She is very determined to be the best she can. She’s up as early as 5.20am to get to the gym or go for a run. Then she is off to school where she is always keen to get involved in extra activities and is striving constantly for the best academic results that she can. She loves her friends very much and is extremely kind, fun and loyal. Her passion for helping others has been evident since she was young and her compassion for others never ceases to amaze me.
For me Chloe is someone who just loves so many different areas of life. She is totally committed to having an abundant life and is adamant that diabetes will not hold her back. I love that Chloe does not let diabetes dominate her life … in fact she is showing diabetes that she is the boss and I love that about her.
She is my inspiration and absolutely a precious gift that I give thanks for each and every day.
